Chairman

Mr. Bharat Sheth has been associated with Greatship (India) Limited since incorporation and became Chairman with effect from March 2006.

He joined the parent, Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (G E Shipping), in 1981 and has over 30 years of experience in the shipping industry. He is currently the Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of G E Shipping. 

He has graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Economics) degree from St. Andrews University, Scotland in 1981. 

Satish Sinha

Sr. Vice President - GIL

Mr. Satish Sinha joined Greatship in 2009 and heads the group’s drilling operations. He has more than 30 years of experience working in oilfield and drilling services, having previous worked with ONGC, Great Atwood Limited and, lastly, with Transocean, prior to joining Greatship. His experience spans the Asian market, with particular expertise in Indian and South East Asia operations.

He has received professional training in Drilling Engineering from the Institute of Drilling Technology (Dehradun, India) and in Advanced Drilling techniques in the erstwhile-USSR. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Diploma in Business Management

Mr. Ravi Sheth has been associated with the group since inception and was appointed Managing Director of GIL in November 2006. He has overseen the growth of this business from its fragile beginings to the position of strength that it finds itself in today.

He has been associated with the parent, G E Shipping, since 1989 and is currently Director on its Board. He is a strategic investor in companies with good governance and robust revenue models. He has been instrumental in identifying potential growth stories with sound business fundamentals.

He has graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from H. R. College, Mumbai in 1982 and completed a Master of Business Administration from Babson College, Wellesley, U.S.A. in 1985. 

Alok Mahajan

Mr. Alok Mahajan joined the Greatship Group in August 2008 and heads the group business in Singapore.

Prior to joining Greatship, he spent 18 years with the parent, GE Shipping, where he served in various functions concluding with his role as the General Manager of the Strategic Planning and Sale & Purchase department.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) Degree with distinction from College of Engineering, Pune, in 1985. In 1990, he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM, Ahmedabad, where was awarded the Prof. Waren Haynes Scholarship, 1988-89 and Bank of America Scholarship, 1989-90.

Mr. Naware has been associated with this group since its inception and was appointed Executive Director of GIL in November 2006.

He has been associated with the parent, G E Shipping, since 1987 and became President (Corporate) heading all corporate functions such as Secretarial, Legal, Corporate Governance, Strategic Initiatives and Insurance.

Prior to joining G E Shipping, he gained 13 years of experience working in the Secretarial and Legal department of Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd. Pune, India.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Science and a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Pune, Maharastra.

G. Shivakumar

CFO

Mr. G. Shivakumar rejoined the Greatship Group in December 2011 in his second stint as the CFO.

He is currently designated as Group CFO and thus serves as the CFO of the parent, GE Shipping too. He joined GE Shipping as a management trainee immediately after completing his management in 1990, and contributed to the company through stints in key functions like Treasury, Corporate Finance, Human Resources, and Strategic Planning. He has been inducted into the GE Shipping board as an Executive Director in November 2014. 

He has graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a post-graduate in management from IIM Ahmedabad.

Keki Mistry

Mr. Keki Mistry was appointed Non Executive Independent Director of GIL in December 2007.

He is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Mr. Keki Mistry is the Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited (HDFC), India’s first and largest housing finance company, which he joined in October 1981. Prior to HDFC, he has worked in the Indian Hotels Co. Ltd.

Besides his responsibilities within HDFC, Mr. Keki Mistry has been deputed on consultancy assignments to the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) in Thailand, Mauritius, Caribbean Islands & Jamaica to review and evaluate the operations of mortgage financial institutions in these countries.

Mr. Berjis Desai was appointed Non Executive Independent Director of GIL in December 2007.

He  is an eminent Solicitor and was a Managing Partner of J. Sagar Associates, a national law firm. He has been practicing law since 1980. He specializes in financial & securities laws, structured finance. He has extensive experience both as an Arbitrator and Counsel in international commercial as well as domestic arbitrations. He has been a working journalist with a leading Indian daily and is a columnist in Indian newspapers.

He has completed his B.A. (Hons) (First Class), LL.B. (First Class First) both from University of Bombay, LL.B. (now LL.M. - First Class First, starred First) from University of Cambridge, U.K. and Solicitor (First Class First) from Bombay Incorporated Law Society.

Vineet Nayyar

Mr. Vineet Nayyar was appointed Non Executive Independent Director of GIL in July 2009.

He is currently Executive Vice Chairman of Tech Mahindra Ltd., and has also been the Chief Executive Officer of HCL Technologies. Mr. Nayyar was the founding Chairman and Managing Director of Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL). 

As the member of the Indian Administrative Service, he has held major government assignments such as Secretary, Agriculture, State of Haryana (1970-73) and Director, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India (1973-78).

He holds a Master’s degree in Development Economics from Williams College, Massachusetts.

Shashank Singh

Mr. Shashank Singh was appointed Non Executive Independent Director of GIL in May 2010.

He is a Co-Head of the Indian office of Apax Partners India Advisers Pvt. Limited, having helped to start the office in 2007.  Mr. Shashank Singh joined Apax Partners in London in 2004, as part of the Technology & Telecoms team, and had focused on investments in the telecoms and IT services / BPO spaces. Prior to joining Apax Partners, Shashank spent four years as a strategy consultant with Monitor Company in their London, Madrid, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Munich, Mumbai and Tel Aviv offices. 

He has an MBA degree from Harvard Business School and is a Baker Scholar, a first class degree in economics from Cambridge University and a BA (Honours) with distinction from St. Stephen’s College (University of Delhi).

Mr. Anil Singhvi was appointed Non Executive Independent Director of GIL in February 2012.

He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and is the Chairman of Ican Investments Advisors Pvt Ltd, a Corporate Advisory firm engaged in Investment Banking and Corporate Advisory. He has over 32 years of experience in corporate sector, out of which 22 years were spent with Ambuja Cements Ltd, where he rose from Manager to Managing Director & CEO.            

He is the founder of IIAS (Institutional Investor Advisory Services India Ltd), a proxy advisory company for Institutional Investors. He is also closely associated with SAMPARC- a non-government organization that helps to empower destitute children. Apart from this, he is also on the Indian Advisory Board of Habitat for Humanity, an NGO involved with construction of houses for the needy.

Mathew Cyriac

Mr. Mathew Cyriac was appointed Non Executive Independent Director of GIL in July 2013.

He is a Senior Managing Director in Blackstone’s Private Equity Group based in Mumbai. Before joining Blackstone in 2006, he served as Head – Corporate Development and Strategy of iGate Global Solutions, a publicly listed IT Services company, which brought over Quintant, where he was the erstwhile CFO. Prior to joining Quintant, he was a Vice President in the Investment Banking Group at CSFB. He also worked in the Private Equity Group at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette in India for over 4 years. 

He has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. He was awarded the IIMB Gold Medal for graduating at the top of his MBA class.

Dr. Swaroop Rawal

Dr. Swaroop Rawal was appointed  Non Executive Independent Director of GIL in March 2015.

She holds a PhD (Education) from the University of Worcester, UK and MA (English) degree from Annamalai Open University, India. Dr. Rawal possesses numerous certifications in the field of pedagogy and is a renowned academic in India. She has also authored a book ‘Learning Disabilities in a Nutshell’.

Her academic interests span across the fields of theatre, drama and arts. She has been a council member of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is a member of the advisory board of various scholastic institutions. She has been involved in various philanthropic projects in the field of child education and upliftment in the quality and delivery of education in the country.
